Former NASCAR champion Kurt Busch reportedly will join Stewart-Haas Racing next season as the team expands to four cars in the Sprint Cup Series.

Busch told ESPN and Fox Sports he plans to join the team in a multi-year deal, and Stewart-Haas announced a news conference for Tuesday morning “to announce future expansion.”

“It’s inked,” Fox Sports quoted Busch as saying.

Stewart-Haas’ current drivers are Tony Stewart, who’s out with an injury; Ryan Newman and Danica Patrick.

However, for next year Newman is being replaced with Kevin Harvick, so the lineup would be Stewart, Patrick, Harvick and Busch.

Busch, the 2004 Cup champion, currently drives the No. 78 Chevrolet for the one-car team of Furniture Row Racing in Denver, and he’s a candidate to qualify for this year’s 12-driver Chase for the Cup championship playoff.

Busch, the older brother of fellow Cup driver Kyle Busch, currently is 12th in the Cup standings.
