Johnny Cash Music Festival
When, where: June 18,Ventura County Fairgrounds
Highlights: Cover bands play Johnny Cash tunes, women compete in a pinup contest and more than 100 vendors sell crafts and memorabilia. There will also be a display of vintage cars and a kids’ corral.
Cost: $25; $20 in advance; $15 for military personnel; free for ages 12 and younger, if they’re dressed in black.

SANTA BARBARA
Summer Solstice Parade & Festival
When, where: June 24-26, State Street andAlameda Park
Highlights: A Carnaval-like parade (June 25) with bright, feathery costumes and extravagant floats, a crafts marketplace, a kids’ area, a drum circle and enough food, beer and wine to satisfy more than 100,000 attendees.

FALLBROOK, CALIF.
Gourd Art Festival
When, where: June 25 and 26, Welburn Gourd Farm
Highlights: Fine-art gourds for sale from more than 50 craftspeople. Also: a wine garden, live music, Hawaiian dancers, art workshops and a hat contest.
Cost: $12, $10 advance; free for children age 12 and younger

San Francisco Pride
When, where: June 25 and 26, Civic Center Plaza.
Highlights: The massive parade. The citywide party. The costumes. No place celebrates LGBT culture better.
