Plenty of new attractions are opening accross the country this year, from interactive rides that offer different experiences each time you go, to new parks in Alabama and North Carolina.
This undated image provided by Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, shows an artist’s rendering of Point Plummet, a six-story body slide that’s part of a new 18-acre water park called Cedar Point Shores. The water park recalls Cedar Point’s origins as a beach resort on Lake Erie’s shores. It’s one of a number of new attractions opening at theme parks around the U.S. this spring and summer.

This rendering provided by SeaWorld San Diego shows Orca Encounter, a new attraction that replaces the theme park’s theatrical-style whale show with a more educational experience. It’s one of several new attractions at SeaWorld, which has weathered criticism and has had declining attendance related to its orca programs. The San Diego park is also opening Ocean Explorer, with multiple aquariums and rides, and Electric Ocean, featuring light displays and live performers on park pathways after dark.

FILE - In this May 20, 2017, file photo, people enjoy beachside games as a a wagon from the Hydrus roller coaster, top right, goes over a turn at Casino Pier in Seaside Heights, N.J. More than four years after Superstorm Sandy destroyed part of the Casino Pier and left the since-demolished Jet Star roller coaster partially submerged in the Atlantic Ocean, the new roller coaster named Hydrus opened May 6, 2017, built safely inland above the beach rather than out over the water.
