15% discount on pre- and post-cruise stays at this New Orleans hotel

The Hyatt Regency New Orleans has a deal for cruise passengers who want to linger before or after their trip: 15% off best available room rates.

The Hyatt, with 1,193 rooms, is located at 601 Loyola Ave. in the city’s downtown area and has an AAA four-diamond ranking.

Carnival, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, American Cruise Lines, Blount Small Ship Adventures, American Queen Steamboat Co. and Travel Dynamics International sail river and ocean cruise ships from the Port of New Orleans.

Here’s how the deal works: You book the New Orleans Cruise Pack through the Hyatt’s website or by phone and use the code “CR00685.”

If you’re making an online reservation, insert the code in the “Corporate or Group Code” box to access the special rate. The offer requires a two-night minimum stay.

Let’s say you’re going on a four-day Western Caribbean cruise aboard the Carnival Elevation starting May 7. You could book a two-night stay May 5 to 7 to spend time exploring New Orleans before you leave.

If so, with the code, you would pay $260 a night instead of $304 a night. You can cancel within 72 hours without penalty charges too.

The deal is good through the end of the year, and the room price is based on availability.
