Harmony of the Seas, considered the world’s largest cruise ship, will embark on its first voyage from Fort Lauderdale in early November.
Harmony of the Seas (1,188 ft) is the newest vessel in Royal Caribbean International’s fleet of cruise ships, surpassing both its sister ships and previous record holders: 2009’s Allure of the Seas (1,187 ft) and 2008’s Oasis of the Seas (1,186 ft).
The 2,747-cabin, 16-deck ship took 32 months to build and cost $1.35 billion. It can accommodate 5,479 passengers at double occupancy alongside a crew of 2,394 people.
If the Harmony of the Seas was a building, it would be the tallest in the entire state of Florida by a large margin. The ship would be 398 ft taller than Florida’s tallest building, the Four Seasons Hotel in Miami.
If you placed the Harmony of the Seas along Las Olas Blvd. in downtown Fort Lauderdale, it would stretch close to a quarter of a mile and span close to three city blocks.
