Joe’s Stone Crab

Miami Beach
Established in 1913, Joe’s started out as one of the only restaurants on Miami Beach. Just a small sandwich shop, Joe’s was then called Joe’s Restaurant. Years later, a Marine Biologist came by Joe’s Restaurant with a sack of unknown crabs, a species he had just discovered off the Miami coastline. Wondering if they were edible, the crabs were placed in a pot of boiling water and served alongside hash browns and cole slaw. The crabs were a hit and people traveled from around the globe just to try them. Today, Joe’s Stone Crab is not only a historic site in Miami Beach, but it still serves as a place for the elite to mingle and enjoy unique shellfish and other delicacies.
