American and Delta are offering a round-trip fare from LAX to Raleigh, N.C., for $260, including all taxes and fees.
Raleigh is named for the English explorer who found, then lost, favor with the English monarchy, leading to his execution in 1618. The city was incorporated 174 years later, and today, with Durham and Chapel Hill, form the Research Triangle, a development and research center.
The fare to Raleigh is subject to availability and must be purchased at least 14 days in advance. The passenger must stay at least three nights or stay over a Saturday night. It is for travel Tuesdays and Wednesdays through May 21.
