Botswana: A wildlife safari with L.A. Zoo Director John Lewis

The Greater Los Angeles Zoo Assn. is offering an excursion to Botswana with L.A. Zoo Director John Lewis and guide Dave Hamman. The 11-day journey begins in Johannesburg, South Africa, with time to sight-see and enjoy the D’Oreale Grande hotel. After a flight to Maun, Botswana, guests take another flight to the Okavango Delta and three days at Banoka Bush Camp, where activities include morning and afternoon game drives. On June 3 guests take a flight to Seba Camp, where guests can observe researchers working with elephant herds. Next is a flight to Duma Tau with accommodations at DumaTau Camp, overlooking a hippo-filled lagoon. Activities here include day and night drives and nature walks. Guests return by air to Johannesburg on June. 8. Also offered are optional pre- and post-trip excursions to Cape Town, South Africa (May 25-30, $2,995 per person), and Livingstone and Victoria Falls in Zambia (June 8-10, $1,995 per person).

Dates: May 29-June 8.

Price: $7,995 per person, double occupancy ($1,995 single supplement), for the land package and flights between Johannesburg and Maun as well as between camps in Botswana. Includes accommodations, all meals while on safari, all park entry fees and sightseeing. International airfare is not included.
