LAX’s food gets a dart; Atlanta’s airport is both loved and loathed

OK, this is embarrassing: LAX apparently is a big loser when it comes to food and drink. You can argue that it’s just the airport, but still.
That’s one of the results of a survey of 6,000 Expedia Elite Plus members, a loyalty program. They apparently had conflicting opinions about airports they love (Atlanta) and airports they hate (Atlanta). And yes, that is the same airport.
In the survey, Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport made both the love and loathe lists, as did Chicago’s O’Hare
Airports that travelers liked that didn’t also show up in the loathe column included Denver, Dallas and Orlando, Fla.
Houston and New York’s JFK and LaGuardia fell on the not-so-keen list.
Poor LaGuardia is fairly easy to hate: From February 2013 until March of this year, it ranked at No. 18 in on-time arrivals among major airports and 27th in on-time departures out of 29 airports listed. Average delay for every year since 2009 is well over an hour for departures and arrivals, according to the Bureau of Transportation statistics.
And apparently passengers hate LaGuardia’s food and beverage choices there too: After LAX, it ranked second on the “ick” list followed by Atlanta, Las Vegas and Newark, N.J.
The split personality issue continued for Atlanta on food list: The airport ranked tops among travelers for food and drink (huh?). The rest of the rankings in the yummy category: Chicago, Dallas, New York’s JFK and San Francisco.
