SoCal: Lake Gregory goes all splashy with new waterpark feature

Lake Gregory Regional Park in the San Bernardino Mountains will be a little different this summer. The Crestline, Calif., lake open to swimming, fishing and boating will gain a waterpark feature and an upgraded lodge and restaurant, and the park will offer six season passes starting at $94 for individuals.

That’s the word from the Lake Gregory Recreation Co., the first private concessionaire to operate the public park that had been run by San Bernardino County. In a Monday announcement, the company promises a “new” lake experience when the season opens in spring.

First up is the creation of Splash Island, a water feature with slides, swings, jumps, diving platforms and other features that guarantee places to jump off and flip into the water. Next is a new hangout called the Lake Gregory Beach Club, no membership required.

Other changes to the recreation area include sprucing up the park’s San Moritz Lodge for weddings and conferences, and updating the Cove Cafe’s menu.

The big change for swimmers, fishermen and boaters will be new options for season passes, which go on sale April 1. They include:

--Endless Fun, $94, unlimited parking and beach access.
--Splash Island, adds waterpark access, $144.
--I Love Water, adds launching privileges for the season for canoes, kayaks and float tubes, $244. There’s also a launch-only pass for $100 for the season.

Passes for families include the Family Fun pass for $189 (parking and beach access for a family of four for the season) and $279 to add on Splash Island. Visitors may still by a day pass for any of the activities.
