Hotel Titano, 31 Contrada del Collegio; 0549-991-006, www.hoteltitano.com. A venerable old hotel just off Piazza della Liberta, the central square in San Marino town. Views from the terrace restaurant are terrific; doubles start at $135, including breakfast.

WHERE TO EAT

Cantina di Bacco, 39 Contrada Santa Croce, 0549-992-840. A warm and homey little spot in San Remo town; two courses around $40.

Castello di Albereto, Piazzetta del Castello, Alberto di Montescudo, Italy; (do not dial 378) 39-0541-863-179 A highly recommended restaurant in a tiny hill town just across the border in Italy. Terrace views of San Marino are superb, as is the contemporary Italian cuisine; two courses, about $60.

Nido del Falco, 7 Contrada dei Fossi, 0549-990-648. For pizza and views at the top of San Remo town; lunch around $20.

Righi la Taverna, 10 Piazza della Liberta, 0549-991-196. Holds place of pride on San Remo’s main square, serves fine local cuisine and has a good wine selection; two courses, around $50.
