Your Scene: Celsus Library in western Turkey
If you thought your local library was a shambles, take a look at Celsus Library in western Turkey. The restored façade, captured by Times reader “Kingdavid77,” encompasses much of what remains of the structure. Granted, however, your neighborhood library hasn’t been standing for nearly two millenniums.
Celsus Library rose in the 2nd century AD in Ephesus, an ancient city near what is now the modern village of Selcuk, Turkey. It is said to have been built to honor a Roman senator.
