California desert deal: $395 for 3 nights at Borrego Valley Inn

The Borrego Valley Inn in Borrego Springs, Calif., has a sweet spring deal for the last half of May. Stay three midweek nights at this Southwest-style inn for $395. Two swimming pools and a hot tub spa come with mountain views and a quiet desert location.

The deal: The Escape May Gray package (that is, escape Southern California’s cloud cover) promises sunny skies at this inn, which is near the vast Anza-Borrego Desert State Park that sprawls over three counties: San Diego, Imperial and Riverside.

Although the package has a short window, it offers good savings if you can make the dates work. The three-day stay for $395 plus tax is available Sundays through Thursdays and must be paid in full at the time of booking. Use the code “ESCAPE11” when booking online or by phone.

When: The offer is good for stays Sunday through May 26.

I called and found availability for a room that has a queen-sized bed, gas fireplace, private patio, Wi-Fi, microwave and refrigerator for a three-night stay starting Sunday. A three-night stay without the package rate would usually cost $630 plus tax.
