Yes, this is Las Vegas too. The woodsy Resort at Mount Charleston, about 30 minutes from the Strip, offers fall hiking and Halloween events for families seeking to escape the usual haunts. Tickets for a Halloween party Saturday and fall festival Sunday come with the room that sleeps four for $144 a night.

The deal: This resort in Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest feels worlds away from the casino crowd. The package includes two children’s tickets for the Halloween party (no charge for adults) from 3-6 p.m. Oct. 29 and four tickets (two adults, two children) to the fall festival from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Oct. 30. Activities include hay rides, pumpkin decorating, petting zoo, spooky movie and costume competition.

When: The offer is good for the night of Oct. 29.

Tested: I found availability for a room with two queen beds (sleeps four) for $145 plus tax and resort fee on Oct. 29 that comes with admission to both events. Ticket savings with this deal add up to $60 for two adults and two children to attend both events.
