Fly to New Zealand or Australia and score a free stay in Tahiti

If you are planning a trip to New Zealand or Australia, Air Tahiti Nui will fly you there and throw in a free three-night visit to Tahiti. Choose a Sofitel, Le Meridien or Radisson resort for your stay and take the time to explore the French Polynesian island.

The deal: There’s a lot of moving parts to reserve with this deal. Prices start at $1,298 per person from Los Angeles to Auckland, New Zealand, and $1,666 per person to Sydney, Australia.

Each package includes a three-day stopover in Tahiti either outbound or on the return flight. The choice of hotels includes the Sofitel Tahiti Maeva Beach Resort, the Le Meridien Tahiti or the Radisson Plaza Resort Tahiti. (You can pay extra to upgrade at discounted rates too.)

When: The deal begins Monday, and tickets must be purchased by June 22. The offer is good for stays from Aug. 24 to March 31.

Tested: Because the sale hasn’t started, I asked Air Tahiti Nui to give me sample rates for availability on random dates:

--$1,298 per person including taxes and fees for a flight from L.A. to Tahiti on Oct. 24, leaving Tahiti and arriving in Auckland on Oct. 28, and returning to Los Angeles Nov. 8. (I checked L.A.-Auckland round-trip airfares on Kayak.com for these dates and found the cheapest prices to be $1,438 to $1,500 per person.)
