Seabourn’s round-the-world cruise stocks up on culinary stars
Small-ship cruise company Seabourn has lined up Robert Irvine, host of the Food Network’s “Restaurant Impossible,” author-chef Michelle Bernstein and other culinary wizards to fix special meals and present cooking demonstrations aboard its 2013 round-the-world trip.
During the 116-day cruise, passengers get to mingle with the foodie stars on board and tag along on shopping trips during shore excursions. But that’s not the only entertainment planned during this ultra-long journey. Singer Patti Austin and comedian Rita Rudner also join the lineup along with experts giving historical talks about cities and countries visited.
The Seabourn Quest leaves Fort Lauderdale, Fla., in January to call at 40 ports on five continents. The ship stops in the Caribbean and then heads west through the Panama Canal and on to the South Pacific, Australia, Asia, and the Middle East and then swings around to Turkey, Greece and Croatia before ending in Venice. (There are shorter legs of this cruise that may be booked too.)
Date: The cruise leaves Florida on Jan. 6 and arrives in Italy on May 3.
Price: $52,012 per person, double occupancy. It includes round-trip airfare, cabin, meals, special on-board events, shore excursions and other extras.
