Las Vegas: Concert series at Mandalay Bay Beach heats up

Las Vegas concertgoers this summer will enjoy a varied lineup of musicians during the annual summer concert series at the Mandalay Bay Beach.

The season kicks off May 11 with multi-platinum country music artist Gary Allan. The performance marks the climax of the Professional Bull Riders’ Last Cowboy Standing event and begins at 9:30 p.m. Tickets cost $35.

As temperatures heat up, so too will the music. Here’s a sampling of some of the scheduled concerts:

  • May 26: Bell Biv DeVoe will take to the stage Memorial Day weekend. This band, an offshoot of the ‘80s band New Edition, features Ricky Bell, Michael Bivens and Ron DeVoe. The show starts at 9 p.m. and tickets cost $32.50.
  • July 6: The “Under the Sun” show features several popular ‘90s bands, including Fastball, Gin Blossoms, Smash Mouth and Sugar Ray. The 8:30 p.m. show will be hosted by Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath. Tickets cost $35.
  • Aug. 10: “Lost ‘80s Live” will bring together various artists who hit it big during the ‘80s. They include A Flock of Seagulls, Bow Wow Wow, Naked Eyes and Wang Chung. The concert begins at 9 p.m. Tickets cost $35.
  • Sept. 2: Labor Day Weekend sees the return to Las Vegas of reggae star Ziggy Marley, the eldest son of music legend Bob Marley. The show gets underway at 9 p.m. Tickets cist $40.

Guests are welcome to bring beach blankets to sit on during the concerts. They can also take a dip in the giant wave pool that’s adjacent to the stage.
