South Florida: Nonstop L.A.-Palm Beach service to begin in November
American Airlines will begin nonstop service from LAX to Palm Beach County, Fla., in November, giving Southern Californians a new daily nonstop route to South Florida. The service is convenient for travelers going to West Palm Beach, Lake Worth, Boca Raton and even Fort Lauderdale, an hour south.
Starting Nov. 21, American will operate a red-eye flight that leaves Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) at 12:05 a.m. and arrives at Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) at 7:55 a.m. The return flight leaves the Palm Beach airport at 8:50 a.m. and arrives in L.A. at 11:50 a.m.
With the new service come some low introductory rates in effect from December to February. I checked flights leaving L.A. on Dec. 13 and returning Dec. 17 and found the round-trip economy price of $489, taxes and fees included.
I also checked Martin Luther King Jr. weekend (leaving L.A. on Jan. 17 and returning Jan. 20) and found an economy seat for $460 round-trip, taxes and fees included. If you don’t like the timing of the daily nonstop flight, there are other options between L.A. and Palm Beach on American that connect through Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
American also is to start service on Tuesday (today) from LAX to Indianapolis; Columbus, Ohio; Pittsburgh; Hartford, Conn.; and Northern Arkansas Regional Airport in Bentonville, operated by American Eagle.
