Las Vegas: Renovations continue at two Caesars resorts

Blame construction for the congestion along Las Vegas Boulevard these days. Two of Caesars Entertainment’s resorts in Las Vegas, the Quad and the Flamingo, are being reshaped.
When completed in December, the properties will boast not only a new entertainment district, but also the world’s tallest Ferris wheel.
Exterior signage is being installed this week and next at the Quad, formerly the Imperial Palace. The frumpy hotel already has a new porte cochere. Improvements to its lobby, casino, retail and dining areas will be noticeable in the coming months.
By year’s end, the LINQ, an open-air entertainment venue anchored by the enormous wheel, is to open. The complex, with more than 30 shops and restaurants, will front onto the sidewalk outside the two hotels.
The High Roller Ferris wheel is being built behind the Quad and adjacent to the Las Vegas Monorail. It will rise 550 feet, making it taller than the London Eye or the Singapore Flyer. Guests will make the half-hour rotation in one of 28 glass-enclosed cabins. Each can hold as many as 40 people.
The Quad already contains a family-friendly attraction worth visiting. The Auto Collections is said to be the world’s largest classic car showroom. Even though all 250 classic vehicles, valued at more than $100 million, are for sale, they’re displayed as in a museum, not a car dealership. The Auto Collections is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. daily. Admission is $11.95 for adults and $8 for kids.
