Celebrity floats its brand of cruise culture on dry land, sort of

Expect to see a cruise ship masquerading as a food truck tooling around Southern California this week.
That’s the idea behind Celebrity Cruises’ food truck and pop-up spa, which makes its debut Thursday (today) at the ASICS World Series of Beach Volleyball in Long Beach.
The ship-on-wheels will be selling samples from the cruise line’s signature on-board restaurants — crab cakes from the Tuscan Grille, barbecued baby-back pork spring rolls from QSine and grilled chicken pesto panini from the Porch. (Entrees cost $8 each, half of which will go to charity.)
Food truck visitors also receive free neck and shoulder massages that are part of Celebrity’s AquaSpa service, and have a shot at entering their names to win a cruise vacation.
The truck will be at the volleyball tournament adjacent to Marina Green Park at 386 E. Shoreline Drive through Sunday.
After that, who knows?
On Friday, Celebrity will launch a Web page dedicated to following the food truck, which it says will be in the L.A., Orange County and Palm Springs areas during August. It also will invite people to weigh in on its Facebook page on where the truck should stop next.
