Mexican airline AeroMexico has announced new 737-800 jet service that will operate 14 flights weekly between Los Angeles and Guadalajara starting in October.

The new service, called AeroMexico Contigo, or AeroMexico With You, will have lower fares for travelers, an airline statement says. The service includes flights from Fresno and Sacramento in California as well as from Chicago and Ontario, Canada, to Guadalajara.

Contigo also plans to add 28 flights weekly between Tijuana and Guadalajara.

Though the new service doesn’t begin until October, you can buy tickets now from the airline’s website, by phone, or through a travel agent.

I looked at fares on the AeroMexico website; Contigo doesn’t have its own website. I found Contigo flights, which are those numbered between 702 and 799, to be among the cheapest on random dates that I checked. For example, a one-way L.A.-Guadalajara flight on Nov. 2 costs $130 on a nonstop Contigo flight rather than $249 to $358 on AeroMexico flights that connect via other cities in Mexico.

AeroMexico Contigo will adopt the airline’s existing baggage policy of one free bag (maximum 55 pounds) and one free carry-on (maximum 22 pounds).
