By the numbers: The Palazzo’s autumn display unfolds in Las Vegas
The Palazzo’s new autumn display in the Waterfall Atrium includes giant metal cattails, falling leaves and enormous pumpkins.
The Palazzo rings in autumn with a new display taking over the resort’s Waterfall Atrium.
Look for 16-foot-tall cattail sculptures made from 70% recycled steel, the centerpiece of the exhibit. Also find 8,000 pounds of pumpkins, with the largest fall gourd weighing in at 930 pounds.
The exhibit also features 60 huge falling leaves hanging from the ceiling, 3,000 preserved cattails, 3,500 carnations dotting the topiary pumpkins in the east and west gardens, 900 plants and 800 chrysanthemums, garden mums and celosia.
Five gardeners at the resort take about four hours each day just to maintain the gardens, and every two weeks they replace all the flowers and plants.
The initial changeover from the summer display to autumn took a crew of 14 gardeners working 10 hours overnight to transform.
The Palazzo’s floral and horticultural departments spent six months planning and building the seasonal display.
