Zap2it.com merges into The Times

Tribune Co. established an “online entertainment news bureau” Thursday by merging its television and movie listings service, Zap2it.com, into the Los Angeles Times.

The goal is to aggregate Tribune’s entertainment coverage from its media properties and boost its presence on the Web with an array of blogs, video features, listings and news about movies and TV shows.

Times editors will manage the operation, adding the seven Zap2it editorial employees to their staff. “This bureau will work with reporting and producing teams at all our newspapers and TV stations to bring our audiences the most complete, behind-the-scenes entertainment report on the Web,” said Marc Chase, president of Tribune Interactive.

The Times and Zap2it editorial content will use the Zap2it portal, which is scheduled to be revamped and re-launched this year with the same moniker.
