Work is hell: Man quits job over ‘666’ on tax forms

Many would agree with the notion that paying taxes can be a hellish experience. But a Tennessee man was so horrified by finding “666” on his tax forms that he quit his job.

For those who skipped Sunday school, 666 is the biblical “mark of the beast” -- that is, a sign of the devil. Devout Christians try to keep their distance from such things.

So imagine the feelings of Walter Slonopas, 52, who felt he needed to resign from his gig as a maintenance worker at Contech Casting in Clarksville after noticing that his W-2 form was stamped with the number 666.

“If you accept that number, you sell your soul to the devil,” he told the Tennessean.

It would appear that Satan had Slonopas in his sights. When he first joined the company, he was assigned the number 666 for clocking in each day. After protesting the evil employee ID, Slonopas was assigned a different number.

Later, the company changed its time-clock system, and what do you know? Slonopas once again received number 666.

Spooky, right?

This time Slonopas up and quit. Apparently it was clear to him that cleaning up at Contech Casting was a devilish business.

“God is worth more than money,” he said.

Take that, Lucifer.
