Sports dominated Sunday night television ratings, with football on NBC and baseball playoffs on Fox.

On NBC’s “Sunday Night Football,” the Dallas Cowboys beat the Washington Redskins 31-16, and the game drew 19.6-million viewers in prime time, according to early numbers from Nielsen, which are less accurate for live sports because they are not adjusted for time zones.

In metered markets, the telecast received a 13.5 rating, up 7% from last year’s comparable Week 6 game. Pending updates, NBC was the highest rated of the networks Sunday night.

After a NFL overrun, Fox had Game 2 of the MLB American League Championship Series, in which the Boston Red Sox beat the Detroit Tigers to tie the series. According to the preliminary numbers, the game drew about 8.26 million viewers and a rating of 2.4, but those figures will be adjusted later.

Competing with the sports coverage was ABC’s “Once Upon a Time,” which drew 7.36 million viewers and fell 12% to a rating of 2.3 in the key 18-to-49 demographic, coming after a low premiere for “America’s Funniest Home Videos.” “Revenge” fell 11% from last week, while “Betrayal” slid 18% to a 0.9.

CBS’ prime-time lineup was down across the board from last week, when the network got a big boost from an overrun of a high-profile NFL game. That was the high-scoring matchup between Tony Romo’s Dallas Cowboys and Peyton Manning‘s Denver Broncos.
