Justin Bieber to go speeding into space on Virgin Galactic

Justin Bieber in outer space? We imagine that’s right about where his Calabasas neighbors would like to see him these days.

Bieber and manager Scooter Braun have signed up for a Virgin Galactic suborbital flight, Virgin founder Richard Branson announced Wednesday on Twitter.

“Great to hear @justinbieber & @scooterbraun are latest @virgingalactic future astronauts,” Branson said. “Congrats, see you up there!”

The Biebs retweeted the message to his more than 40 million followers.

“im going to space momma!!” Braun tweeted.

Astronaut No. 500 -- more than 530 are signed up -- is Ashton Kutcher, who also paid the $250,000 fee to get on the list. Leonardo DiCaprio is on the list as well, having just picked up a traveling companion who at a recent auction in Cannes bid about $1.5 million to take the trip with the actor.

Commercial flights aren’t up and running just yet, but the company has its eye on putting a test flight into space by the end of the year, according to its website. At the altitude they’ll hit, on the edge of outer space, passengers will experience weightlessness and see the curvature of the Earth.

Maybe Bieber is just trying to put as much space as possible between himself and his hybrid-driving, former NFL-starring neighbor Keyshawn Johnson, who chased down the 19-year-old and his Ferrari late last month in a “confrontation” that ended with the “Boyfriend” singer reportedly locking himself in his house and refusing to come out.

Presumably, the Virgin Galactic spaceship will be able to outmaneuver Keyshawn and his Prius.
