Another Flash is cast as Keiynan Lonsdale takes on the role of Wally West

Keiynan Lonsdale will jump from the dystopian “Insurgent” to the DC TV Universe as Wally West — an alternate version of the Flash who, in the comics, eventually becomes the main Flash — on the CW’s “The Flash” as a series regular.

It was already announced at Comic-Con that the character — initially called Kid Flash — was going to be introduced in Season 2 of “The Flash,” as well as that of another generational speedster, Jay Garrick, who will be played by Teddy Sears. Wally is supposed to be the nephew of Iris West, who is played on the show by Candice Patton, but “Flash” has its own mythology, so fans will have to wait to see whether that is still the relationship that will be portrayed on screen.

Casting has already made a connection for a couple of the actors playing Flash: Lonsdale, who is currently filming the next film in the “Divergent” series, “Allegiant: Part 1,” was on the television series “Dance Academy.” “Flash” series star Grant Gustin famously busted some moves on “Glee” before donning the red suit.

Lonsdale’s Wally West casting follows more additions that have recently been made to the “Arrow”/”Flash”/”DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” TV family. Casper Crump was cast as the villainous Vandal Savage, an immortal warrior and schemer who plans to take over the world. Also, Falk Hentschel will don the cowl of Hawkman, as previously reported.
