Chic and Giorgio Moroder play the Hollywood Bowl in May
Classic disco fans, break out your wide lapels and polyester, because a ‘70s dance revival is coming to the Hollywood Bowl in May.
Nile Rodgers’ Chic and Giorgio Moroder are teaming up for a bill showcasing the ongoing love affair between contemporary producers and the vibes of vintage dance music. Younger electronic acts including Oliver, Tensnake and Hard’s Gary Richards (in his Destructo alias) will open the night.
The show, produced by Andrew Hewitt, Bill Silva and Hard Events, will hit the Hollywood Bowl on May 10. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.
“This is a unique show we are bringing to the Hollywood Bowl,” Hewitt said. “We’re looking forward to an evening of disco, funk and future music from legends like Chic and Giorgio Moroder alongside new talent Destructo, Oliver and Tensnake.”

The bill re-unites Rodgers and Moroder, who each appeared as marquee collaborators on Daft Punk’s “Random Access Memories,” which won album of the year at this year’s Grammys.
The two of them produced and performed on countless hits in the ‘70s and ‘80s, with a catalog that includes Rodgers’ “Le Freak” and “Everybody Dance,” and his work on Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky,” and Moroder’s pioneering synth work with Donna Summer, Oscar-winning soundtracks and recent remixes for young bands like Haim.
Moroder last played in Los Angeles at Hard’s Day of the Dead festival in November. Rodgers performed at the Grammys with Daft Punk, Pharrell Williams and Stevie Wonder.
