‘This ain’t your grandma’s bingo’: Get ready for rollicking games at the Americana

“This ain’t your Grandma’s bingo” is the slogan for the “Legendary Bingo” parties hosted by Bingo Boy Inc.

Bingo Boy is bringing its rollicking version of the game to the green at the Americana at Brand this month, with a series of three wacky Bingo Under the Stars events planned for Thursday (Aug. 6), Aug. 13 and Aug. 20. Tickets, which must be purchased in advance, are $15 for each date and include dinner from Katsuya or Trattoria Amici. (Beer and cocktails available for purchase.)

Check-in begins at 6 p.m., and the parties are scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. Tables are available on a first come, first served basis.

Pop-ups

Mike Balitsaris, owner of Pennsylvania-based leather goods maker Waltzing Matilda, is scheduled to create hand-crafted pieces in a four-day pop-up workshop at Ron Robinson Santa Monica from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. The store is at 1327 5th St., Santa Monica. Waltzing Matilda’s footwear, bags and accessories are made in the U.S. from locally-sourced and re-purposed materials.

Figue, known for its travel-inspired women’s clothing and accessories is popping up at Ron Herman starting Wednesday through Aug. 19. On Thursday, Figue founder and creative director Stephanie von Watzdorf will be on hand to meet customers from 2 to 6 p.m. The pop-up is at Ron Herman Upstairs, 8100 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles.

Saturday kicks off the fourth annual Teen Vogue Back-to-School Saturdays, which run through Aug. 29. This year, the magazine has teamed with Simon Malls around the country for special events, shopping incentives and exclusive promotions. Trunk show

Planet Blue in Malibu is hosting Frankie’s Bikinis designer Francesca Aiello for a trunk show from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday. Besides viewing swimwear and meeting Frankie herself, customers will be entertained by a DJ, with drinks and sweets available. During the event, Frankie’s Bikinis will be priced 20% off. Planet Blue is at 3835 Cross Creek Road.

Opening

Saks Fifth Avenue’s Off 5th is set to open at the Beverly Connection on Thursday. From 8:30 a.m. until the doors open at 9:30 a.m., customers in line will have the chance to win $50 gift cards, with one winning a $500 shopping spree. The festivities continue through Sunday with giveaways, contests and a live DJ. The first 100 shoppers to arrive at the store each day from Thursday through Sunday will receive a special chocolate bar and a chance to find one of four golden tickets redeemable for $100 gift cards. The new store is at 100 N. La Cienega Blvd., Los Angeles.
