To complement the dramatic, black and gold Andrew Gn gown worn by Juliana Margulies -- star of “The Good Wife” and Golden Globe nominee for lead actress in a TV drama -- makeup artists Molly R. Stern went for what she calls an “Italian-inspired smoky cat eye.”

Stern started with L’Oreal’s black liquid eyeliner and created a swooping cat eye toward the outer corner. “I took it really heavy at the edge of the eye,” Stern said. “It’s Sophia Loren-inspired makeup, where the eyeliner actually changes the shape of the eye.”

Stern then used L’Oreal Infallible eye shadow in Eternal Black (a shimmery black hue), and went over the liquid liner line with the powder to both soften and intensify the look.

With such heavy eye makeup, Stern chose to keep the rest of Margulies’ face fresh and glowing. She layered Laura Mercier’s Sunrise blush (a bright peachy color) underneath Cargo’s Matte Bronzer, which toned the brightness of the peach down a bit.

Margulies’ lips were left natural, layered with a caramel stain and a sheer hot tomato red for what Stern calls a “strawberry” shade.
