‘Anchorman’s’ Ron Burgundy to publish tell-all memoir
Stay classy, readers.
Ron Burgundy, the legendary TV anchorman of “Anchorman,” will publish a memoir in November. “Let Me Off at the Top!: My Classy Life and Other Musings,” a fully authorized tell-all autobiography, will hit shelves about a month before “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues” comes to movie screens.
Burgundy, of course, is a fictional construct, but that isn’t getting in the way of the character -- portrayed by Will Ferrell on screen -- telling his story in a book.
That story, for those who never saw the 2004 satire “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy,” is about a self-important San Diego newsman who is kind of charming despite being particularly clueless.
Publisher Crown wrote that “he will share never-before-told stories of his childhood and the events that led him to choose a career in the news business. He will offer a rare glimpse behind the camera into the real life of a man many consider to be our greatest living news anchor. In his own words, he will share personal anecdotes about the women in his life, about his dog, Baxter, and his legendary news team. Along the way, he’ll also give sage advice on a variety of topics that matter most to him.”
Expect mustache-grooming tips. And, of course, “stay classy.”
Burgundy said in the announcement about the book, “I don’t know if it’s the greatest autobiography ever written. I’m too close to the work. I will tell you this much: the first time I sat down and read this thing ... I cried like a goddamn baby, and you can take that to the bank!”
