Share

Anniversary deal at Tops: The Original Tops in Pasadena is celebrating its 60th anniversary by offering its Tops Special -- its quarter-pound Old Fashioned burger topped with pastrami, mustard and cheese -- for 60 cents (regularly priced at $6.29) on Friday and Saturday. 3838 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena, (626) 449-4412, www.theoriginaltops.com.

School garden fundraiser: Wonderland Avenue School’s From the Ground Up garden program is sponsoring a visit by Giada DeLaurentiis to the elementary school on Saturday. The chef and host of the Food Network’s “Giada at Home” will share stories and sign copies of her cookbook. Every donation of $50 or more gets you a personalized signed copy of her latest book, “Weeknights with Giada,” and proceeds go toward the school garden program. 3 to 6 p.m. Live music and refreshments. RSVP at ftgu@wonderlandschool.org. 8510 Wonderland Ave., Los Angeles.

Let’s talk about bubbies: Author David Sax and chefs Roxana Jullapat of Cooks County, Micah Wexler of Mezze and Susan Feniger of Street and Border Grill join Times restaurant critic Jonathan Gold on Nov. 13 for a conversation titled “Who’s Your Bubbie?”, hosted by KCRW’s Evan Kleiman. The event at the Skirball Cultural Center will launch the Beyond Bubbie website, an interactive community cookbook and place to tell stories of food. Tickets (which include appetizers) are available at https://beyondbubbielosangeles.eventbrite.com/#.
