10. La Bonne Cuisine de Madame E. Saint-Ange by Madame Evelyn Saint-Ange, translated by Paul Aratow (Ten Speed Press, $40) Published in 1927 and recently translated by L.A.’s Aratow, this is a comprehensive cookbook originally written for the French housewife.
