Darryl Carter offers fresh takes on Thomasville classics

Share

Thomasville, the manufacturer and retailer of traditional American furniture, has introduced a new signature collection from designer Darryl Carter. As detailed in his forthcoming coffee table book “The New Traditional,” Carter reinvigorates the classics with a cost-conscious eye, often mixing creamy upholstered pieces and fine wood antiques. Shown here are the new collection’s Middleton wing chair, from $1,100, inspired by the spartan shapes of Thomas Jefferson’s furniture at Monticello, and the Candelabra table lamp, $399, which has a Napoleonic flair. The Italian-inspired claw-foot Bel Air Bench, $549, is made of white oak with a weathered driftwood finish; it’s scaled to slide under a console when not in use. The pieces will arrive in stores this summer. To find a showroom: thomasville.com.
