Watch Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton make bedroom eyes at each other in their duet from ‘The Voice’

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton went back to where it all began.

The two singers, who began a relationship after meeting as coaches on “The Voice,” returned to the NBC singing competition Monday night to perform “Go Ahead and Break My Heart,” a duet from Shelton’s upcoming album.

The tune is a standard-issue soft-rock jam, with a sweeping melody and words about broken trust and a brand new start.

But the way these two sing it — with their eyes locked unwaveringly on each other — gives the song some intensity it wouldn’t otherwise have.

“Go Ahead and Break My Heart” will be featured on Shelton’s “If I’m Honest,” which is due May 20 and presumably will have songs about Shelton’s recent split from Miranda Lambert and his new romance with Stefani. The album follows Stefani’s “This Is What the Truth Feels Like,” which explored her split from Gavin Rossdale and the start of her relationship with Shelton.
