2 in custody after pregnant woman stabbed during carjacking in Sunland-Tujunga
A pregnant woman who was stabbed multiple times by an assailant police say stole her car in a San Fernando Valley neighborhood was undergoing surgery Thursday as authorities continue to search for additional suspects.
The carjacking was reported shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday in the 10800 block of Eldora Avenue in the Sunland-Tujunga neighborhood. The woman was sitting in her car when she was approached by two or three people who asked for her phone. When they didn’t get it, they took her car and stabbed her, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The car was abandoned after it crashed into at least one parked vehicle in another neighborhood, police said.
The woman, who is 12 weeks pregnant, suffered 10 stab wounds in the attack, her husband, Greg Maga, told KTLA-TV Channel 5. Authorities said she is in stable condition.
Two people are in custody in connection with the attack, and police are looking for additional suspects. The department initially said three people had been arrested, but hours later said only two people were in custody.
Authorities have not released the names of the people in custody nor did they provide details about the circumstances surrounding their arrests.
