Six injured when car crashes into Fountain Valley tutoring center
Six people, including two teenagers, were sent to the hospital after a car crashed into a Fountain Valley tutoring center Monday.
A 76-year-old Huntington Beach man crashed his 2011 black Buick into the Tutoring Club in the 9900 block of Ellis Avenue about 12:30 p.m., the Fountain Valley Police Department said in a statement.
The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital.
“The vehicle went through the building and crashed into the back wall,” said Tony Cappolino, operations chief with the Fountain Valley Fire Department.
Two men had to be extricated from under the vehicle. One of them, 20, suffered serious injuries, and the other, 32, suffered life-threatening injuries, police said. Two 15-year-old boys and a 67-year-old woman suffered minor injuries.
The car was towed out of the storefront tutoring center after the victims were taken to hospitals, Cappolino said.
Calls to the Tutoring Club were not returned.
The driver has not been cited, said Fountain Valley police Sgt. Kurt Ulrich.
“It doesn’t mean he won’t, but it’s still under investigation,” Ulrich said.
