LAPD motorcycle officer injured in Hollywood traffic crash
A Los Angeles police motorcycle officer was injured early Thursday when he was struck by a car in Hollywood, officials said.
The collision occurred about 5:40 a.m. at the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Las Palmas Avenue, said Officer Liliana Preciado.

FOR THE RECORD
An earlier version of this post said the collision occurred in West Hollywood. It was in Hollywood.

The car’s driver remained at the scene and no arrests had been made. The officer complained of pain in his leg and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
The incident highlights the dangers officers can face on the roads. So far this year, at least four LAPD officers have been killed in traffic collisions -- only one was off-duty.
A motorcycle officer was rear-ended and pinned against another vehicle by a suspected intoxicated driver. A patrol officer in his cruiser was allegedly deliberately struck and killed by a man trying to help a friend evade police. And two were killed in Beverly Hills when they collided with large, out-of-control, triple-axle construction trucks.
