Triple-digit heat scorches parts of Southern California
Triple-digit heat scorched inland areas of Southern California on Tuesday, the National Weather Service said.
Temperatures topped out at 100 degrees in Woodland Hills, 106 in Lancaster and 105 in Ojai, according to the Weather Service.
Downtown Los Angeles reached 87 degrees and Pomona registered a 93-degree reading.
Temperatures along the coast, where some Los Angeles-area beaches were shrouded by fog, were in the low 70s.
In the Inland Empire, Lake Elsinore was 105 and Riverside was 101, the Weather Service said.
In the desert, Blythe reached 107 degrees and Palm Springs and Indio hit 106 degrees.
Monsoonal moisture is expected to move into Southern California and bring cooler temperatures Wednesday. But the moisture could spark thunderstorms, according to the Weather Service.
The agency said warmer weather is expected during the weekend.
