CALIFORNIA BRIEFING / LOS ANGELES
Police have arrested a woman who they said walked up to the ex-girlfriend of “American Idol” judge Simon Cowell and started choking her outside the Nokia Theatre during the music talent show’s performance finale.
Janis Thibodeaux, 33, faces a felony battery charge in connection with the incident Tuesday night.
Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman Norma Eisenman said Thibodeaux approached the victim and asked her if she was the ex-girlfriend of Cowell.
“When the victim stated that she was, the woman attacked her and attempted to choke her,” Eisenman said.
Cowell’s ex-girlfriend is Terri Seymour, an “Extra” entertainment correspondent.
