Car crash downs power lines, closes boulevard
A major thoroughfare was shut down for several hours Monday after a suspected drunk driver struck a utility pole, knocking it down and leaving 200 feet of power lines on the road, police said.
“It’s just a huge mess,” Fullerton Police Lt. Kevin Hamilton said.
The crash occurred about 1:30 a.m. on Euclid Street just north of Rosecrans Avenue, he said. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Euclid, a heavily traveled road, was closed for about a mile between Bastanchury and Laguna roads, the spokesman said.
