The pilot of a twin-engine plane was killed when the aircraft crashed on a ranch Friday afternoon in this rural section of Santa Barbara County, the Federal Aviation Administration reported.

No one else was on the plane, said FAA spokesman Ian Gregor, who added that there were no reports of injuries to anyone on the ground. The pilot’s identity was not immediately available.

The plane, estimated to have been built in 1957, was a PA23 Apache, Gregor said.
