DWP worker found dead at Long Beach plant identified
A worker who was found dead at a Los Angeles Department of Water and Power plant in Long Beach has been identified, authorities said.
Vincent Martinez, 60, of Downey, was found in the plant’s Haynes Generating Station about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, authorities said. An autopsy is pending.
The steam-generating plant is being partially rebuilt to eliminate the use of ocean water to cool the plant, according to the department.
“This is a tragic loss and tragedy for our employee’s family and our entire LADWP family,” said Aram Benyamin, a senior assistant general manager. “Our hearts go out to the family, friends and coworkers of our employee.”
