Los Angeles County has 4,883 precincts and more than 5.7 million citizens of voting age. By the time the polls closed on election day, a record number of residents had cast votes--about 82% of those registered--the highest percentage since 1968. As of Nov. 6 about 2.3 million of those votes had been counted. A final report is due to the California secretary of state by early December.
