Major League Baseball announced its playoff shares Thursday, and of the 10 teams involved in the postseason, the Dodgers apparently were one of the most generous.

The leagues’ runners-up, the Dodgers and Tigers, received approximately $7.5 million per team from the players’ pool. Each clubhouse determines how it will split up its pool money, deciding how many players will get a full share, a partial share and a cash reward.

A full share for the Dodgers is worth $108,037.06, while a full share from the Tigers’ pool is worth $129,278.22.

The difference is because the Dodgers awarded 58 full and 11.5 partial shares, while the Tigers awarded 48 full and 10.015 partial shares. The Dodgers also gave out eight cash awards and the Tigers five.

The only other playoff team to award as many full-time shares as the Dodgers were the world champion Red Sox. A full share from the Red Sox is worth approximately $307,000.

Teams typically give playoff shares to players and clubhouse personnel, so it’s a significant sum for some.

The players’ pool is formed from 50% of the gate receipts from the wild-card games, 60% of the gate from the first three games of the Division Series, 60% of the gate from the first four games of the League Championship Series and 60% of the gate from the first four games of the World Series.
