Dodgers ticket prices to go up — and down

The average price of a Dodgers ticket in 2011 will be more, or less, next year.

The average single-game ticket will be $44.68, up from $44.28 this year. The average season ticket will cost $27.70 per game, down from $28.90.

Team spokesman Josh Rawitch estimated that 60% of ticket prices will remain the same. About 35% of single-game tickets and 20% of season tickets will increase in price. The rest will decrease.

The Dodgers also will charge a premium for the first row of every section. (A front-row seat in the field box section will cost $50 per game for a season-ticket holder, up from $40 this year.) In the left-field pavilion, the first four rows will be categorized as premium seats.

Single-game tickets in the top deck will remain at $12, except front-row seats, which will cost $20, but season tickets in that section will increase. Front-row seats will cost $12 per game and the rest $6 per game, up from $4.

Rawitch said the Dodgers believe that the no-show rate in the top deck was double what it was in the rest of the park because the low prices of season tickets made them attractive to buyers who had no intention of attending most games. The team hopes the change in price will result in a larger walk-up crowd.

Prices are due to increase in the left-field pavilion while many field- and loge-level ticket prices will be cut.

Rawitch also said season-ticket holders paying more in 2011 will be offered gifts such as tickets in lower levels and passes to the stadium club that are worth nearly as much as the difference in cost. The Dodgers also will offer discounted season-parking passes to encourage fans to go to more games.

Online renewals for season tickets begin Tuesday; the renewal deadline is Jan. 13.
