Kobe Bryant probable, Steve Nash questionable for next game

SACRAMENTO -- The Lakers will probably have one or both of their aging backcourt starters ready to play Saturday against Sacramento.

The Lakers said Friday that Kobe Bryant was probable for the game after receiving treatment on his foot and ankle. He sat out two games recently because of a severely sprained left ankle and was bothered Thursday by a bone spur in his left foot.

Bryant had 30 points but made only six of 17 shots and had six turnovers in the Lakers’ 113-103 loss Thursday to Milwaukee. He is five points away from passing Wilt Chamberlain for fourth on the NBA’s all-time scoring list (34,419 points).

Nash seemed less likely to play against Sacramento, according to the Lakers.

He was deemed questionable after leaving Thursday’s game in the third quarter because of what he called a hip spasm and a sore hamstring. He also received treatment for his injuries Friday.

The Lakers (37-36) have lost four of their last five games and are only half a game ahead of Utah for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Jazz hold the tiebreaker as well.
