Buccaneer Beach Becoming a Famous Claim
Buccaneer Beach, who has won four times in seven starts since being claimed for $8,000, heads the field tonight in the MBNA America California Regional Challenge Championship at 440 yards.
Owned by Jose Santos and trained by Chuck Treece, Buccaneer Beach, a 5-year-old Splash Bac horse, will be making his first start since winning the Los Alamitos Winter Championship on Feb. 28.
Third behind The Down Side and Catchmeinyourdreams in the Champion of Champions on Dec. 18, Buccaneer Beach will break from the inside in the field of six and will be ridden by Hector Cuevas.
Among those who will challenge the California-bred are Radium Rays, Sky Lane Pie, Chicky Do Run Run, Toasting My Dad and Glitter Spider Man.
