With a tip of the hat to Yahoo! Sports’ Ball Don’t Lie, a petition has surfaced at Change.org pleading with Lakers center Dwight Howard to lose his headband.

Howard spent eight seasons with the Orlando Magic, who had a no-headband policy. Now that he’s with the Lakers, Howard has been taking advantage of his newfound freedom.

The petition, initiated by Henry Erickson, has a simple explanation, “It looks ridiculous.”

The message on the petition, addressed to Dwight Howard is brief, “Take off the headband.”

As of late Wednesday night, Erickson has 289 supporters.

Naturally, Howard is not obligated to listen but if there was a groundswell of support, perhaps it might prove influential.

Or not . . .
