Watch John Daly throw a golf club into Lake Michigan [video]

John Daly did what most golfers have wanted to do when knocking three consecutive tee shots into the water: throw his club in after the balls.

Daly, the bombastic pro golfer (yes, he’s still on the PGA Tour), struggled off the No. 7 tee at Whistling Straits on Friday during the second round of the PGA Championship. The 1991 PGA Championship and 1995 British Open winner was on par to make the cut for the weekend when everything went watery.

Daly hit three consecutive tee shots into Lake Michigan before finding land with his fourth. He took a 10 on the par-three, 221-yard hole and then took out his frustration.

He hurled his club off the cliff into Lake Michigan, where a boy in a boat reportedly retrieved it.

“I know it wasn’t the right thing to do, but it was more of a reflex than anything,” Daly said. “I’m hitting draws with my irons all week. I get up there knowing the right side is not a problem and it doesn’t come back.

“What do you do? If it were 14 holes, I’d be a great player.”
